As part of the project to expand the community for street children Communauté Enfants Padre Maurizio (C.E.P.M), the redevelopment of water & sanitation system was implemented to improve the living conditions of children through the provision of adequate sanitation facilities.

The construction of a deep well (60 meters) assuring the supply of clean water in every season, allowed the community to become self-sufficient in access to water. The new water network guarantees quality water and suitable quantity, avoiding the surface water table which is contaminated due to the lack of the public sewage system and the widespread presence of cesspools.

Parallel to the well, a wastewater collection and disposal system and a rainwater recycling system have been created. The recycled water will be used for the irrigation of open spaces and vegetable gardens.

The desire to involve the boys and start participatory processes in all activities of transformation and renewal of the community led to organizing awareness-raising actions aimed at educating children to a conscious use of water and natural resources.
